Sprite Shower Filters

Category: .

Product Description

Sprite Industries tackles Chlorine with their patented Chlorgon filters that eliminate up to 99% of it from shower water. With over 23 U.S. and International patents to their credit, and 24 years experience under their belt, Sprite is the world leader in shower filtration technology. Sprite is family owned and operated, and many of their products are assembled on-site at their California warehouse.

Sprite’s Chlorgon media converts chlorine into a harmless salt that is found frequently in beauty products. This is important because chlorine can play havoc with a persons health. Many people experience dry and irritated skin, but, much worse, in gaseous form chlorine compounds have been linked to cancer. For most people, 50% of their daily chlorine exposure occurs in the shower.

Sprite filters work on a principle similar to how a Catalytic Converter works on automobile exhaust. In shower filtration free-chlorine is converted into a harmless chloride. The scientific name for this chemical reaction is known as “Reduction-Oxidation”, commonly referred to as Redox. In the shower environment, chlorine can either be in liquid or gas state. At higher water temperatures, in the enclosed shower stall, the free-chlorine in water goes from a liquid to a gas state, where it vaporizes and is subsequently inhaled.

Redox reactions can be chemically complex. Simply stated, during a Redox reaction electrons are transferred between molecules, creating new elements. For instance, when free-chlorine comes in contact with the filtration media, it is changed into a benign, water-soluble chloride. This reaction changes free-chlorine to a larger chloride element that is too large to evaporate or be absorbed by the skin. It is then carried harmlessly through the water supply.

All Sprite filtered shower products contain a Redox filtration media Sprite calls Chlorgon. Chlorgon was researched, developed and patented by Sprite’s CEO, David Farley. It converts 99% of free-chlorine along with some combined chlorines into a harmless chloride salt. While carbon is used to filter chlorine from tap water, it is ineffective at high temperatures, having an effective range of 50 to 80 degrees. In fact, at higher temperatures, carbon actually off-loads impurities back into the water. Chlorgon was designed for hot water use, and works well in a range of temperatures from hot to cold.

In addition to filtering both free and combined chlorines, Sprite filters also take out dirt, sediment, odors, hydrogen sulfide, iron oxides, and other elements from your shower water. And, Chlorgon is biodegradable. Once the filter has reached the end of its useful life, you simply poke a hole into it and pour out the granules onto your garden.
