Marmoleum Flooring

Categories: ,

Marmoleum is a 100% bio-based flooring system with a 60% plus share of the linoleum market worldwide. The Marmoleum brand has been synonymous with durability, high quality and beautiful, innovative design for over a hundred years, and counting.  It is naturally anti-static and antimicrobial, ready for immediate use, low cost, long lasting, and, as a countertop, creates a scorch resistant surface.

Marmoleum is composed of linseed oil, wood flour, resin, and low impact European dyes for coloring. These are blended together and spread onto jute and put through large industrial rollers. Once rolled to a uniform thickness, the edges are trimmed creating a standardized width. The trimmings are ground and smeared on the jute backing as the base for a subsequent batch. Nothing is wasted.

Marmoleum comes in sheets (6’ 7” wide by however many feet) or tiles (13” x 13”) that are glue-down, and floating floor planks (approx 1’ x 3’) and tiles (either 13” x 13”, or 20” x 20”).  Marmoleum adhesives are specialized for use with their products. They are zero VOC, and now they are manufacturing an adhesive with recycled content.

Marmoleum is one of the best selling lines at the Green Store because it is both beautiful and sturdy, and offers patterns and colors sufficient for all tastes.
